My
Angel
By Golafshan Hassan Zadeh Moghimi
Tehran, Iran
That day was like the other boring days for me. I sat on a dusty, hot shelf in
a toy shop and I was looking out of the window as usual. The shop was not a very
big. It was just like the toy shops in your city. The street was crowded. Little
boys and girls were passing in front of the toy shop, some of them with their
parents and some of them alone. Sometimes they stopped by the window and looked
at the toys and choose one or two for buying, but it didn't make me happy because
I knew that no one wished to buy me. I was a lonely poor teddy bear. When I was
made I was like other teddy bears but I became dirty in the shop. They put me
on a shelf in a corner of the toy shop and soon forgot about me. Then I lost
one of my eyes and became disappointed, sad, and alone because little children
didn't pay attention to me and pushed me away when they were looking for beautiful
toys.
One day
a girl and her father were by passing the shop. Suddenly she stopped
and looked at the toys. By her clothes, I could tell they were not
rich. She was about 8 years old, thin, and sweet. They entered the
shop. She searched the shelves and suddenly her eyes stopped at me.
My heart started to beat. She reached out to take me and looked at
my eyes carefully. She smiled .... at me .... for the first time.
She said "daddy, I found a beautiful cheap teddy". So they paid half
price and then she hugged me. She cleaned me up and sewed on new eyes. I have
never been happier because I have an angel to hug and care for me.
