A Baby’s Sixth Month, Feeding the Baby Solids
A Baby At Six Months Of Age At this age babies enjoy turning around from one side to the other and moving around. They will also make noises without specifically calling out for or needing something such as coughing, grunting, saliva bubbles etc. and will notice things that are funny. They love to crumple up pieces of paper, recognizes his or herself in front of a mirror or in a photo. Babies at this age love jumping and love being carried and dancing in your arms. They laugh out loud when they get excited or cries and gets scared with the presence of strangers. Between six and seven months of age babies reach their peak of manual exploring, tactile and visual. It’s probable babies a this age will want to discover things like your chain, your glasses, or any other object you use every day. Babies really enjoy grabbing at these things when they are being carried.
A Baby’s Motor Skills (6th Month)
- The baby sits up straight, practically without any support.
- The baby turns around to get around (to the sides, face up, face down).
- The baby maintains his or her legs firm when you stand them and hold them by their arms.
- They move their head and have a lot of energy.
- They turn their head from left to right and vice versa.
- They jump and leap impelling themselves with their feet when held by the underarms.
- They hit objects, throw them on the ground, picks them up and bites at them.
- They grab their feet with their hands.
A Baby’s Visual And Hearing Development (6th Month)
- Their vision is almost like that of adults.
- They coordinate what they do with what they see.
- They move objects from one hand to the other.
- They babble with toys and people.
- They interact with music, be it danceable, classical or relaxing.
- They can distinguish colors and choose their favorite toys.
- They emit some sounds such as ba, ta, ca etc.
Social and Emotional Development (6th Month)
- Babies continue to put objects into their mouths, but they also play with them.
- They get scared with strangers.
- They become uneasy when you disappear all of a sudden.
- They are generally in a good mood, but will get angry if a toy is taken away from them.
- They start to understand the meaning of “No”.
- They understand words because of your tone of voice.
- They stretch out their arms when they know you are going to carry them.
