A Baby’s Social and Emotional Development and Stimulation
A Baby’s Social and Emotional Development (4th Month)
- The baby laughs when he is happy
- Reacts fearfully in strange situations
- Does face gestures to get attention
- Cries when someone interrupts his game
- Likes routines (bathing, eating, being stimulated) and knows when they are going to happen
- Starts to have one or two favorite toys
- Makes saliva bubbles with his mouth for fun
Stimulation at Four Months In each stage you should repeat the exercises in which you have had good results before starting new stimulus. At this age babies start to differentiate themselves from the rest of the people and they demonstrate this with smiles. This perception increases the baby’s confidence and will reinforce his bond with you. The baby will also start to differentiate the fingers on his hand.
- Invent new music and sing it to the baby over his stomach and back
- Talk to the baby constantly and use different voice tones so that the baby learns to imitate you. Remember that you should talk to him on a clear and correct way.
- Imitate the sounds your baby makes
- Show him his clothes before putting it on him and explain what each piece of clothing is for
- Tell him about the different odors in the house, the sounds, the names of the people and the name of things he looks at.
- Cut out cards of 20 x 25 centimeters and draw animals, fruit, vegetables, means of transportation etc and color them with strong colors. Show them to your baby every day, one by one, in the same order for five minutes.
