A Baby’s Hearing and Language Development (9th Month)
- Repeats some sounds to imitate you or when they see a something they know in a website.
- Remembers people or toys they have seen before.
- Pay attention when people talk to them.
- Understand simple orders like “come here”, “leave that”, “put that away”, “don’t touch” etc.
- Stop playing when hearing a sudden sound such as a doorbell, when a heavy object falls to the ground, knocking on the door etc.
A Baby’s Social and Emotional Development (9th Month)
- Wave “bye” with their hand.
- Bang two toys together to make sound.
- Gets distracted by touching different textures such as paper, sand, silk etc.
- Move when hearing a song they like.
- Yell or put up a fuss when they want something that is taken away from them.
- Pay attention to stories and songs that are mimicked.
- Repeat an action when clapped at.
- Establish connections between action and reaction such as turning a light on and off etc.
- Observe other babies and get near them to touch them.
- Become anxious when their parents walk away from them.
- Look up towards adults when they are playing on the floor.
- Might have trouble sleeping, because they want to impose their will.
- Become fearful of heights.
