Breastfeeding Twins
Although it might seem like something that is going to be difficult to handle, many women are able to successfully breastfeed their twins. The body incredibly enough has the capacity of producing enough milk for two babies, especially if you continue and work on increasing the amount of milk you have. Even then, finding a system that will work for you will require of some experimenting. You have the choice of feeding one baby at a time or feeding them both at the same time. The advantage of feeding them both at the same time is that it is quicker but breastfeeding one baby at a time is easier because you will not have the problem of having to wait for one baby to finish first so you can burp him or her while the other one is still feeding away and placing one baby over your shoulder to burp him or her while still breastfeeding the other is something that requires more than just a little bit of practice. One thing you could do is feed one baby, while the other bottle-feeds and then switch around next time. You can feed each baby a little bit in each session and the finish it off with the bottle as well. Or you can feed both babies throughout the day and then use a bottle as a supplement for when your milk is low.
If you have had twins you will need to intake more calories than before and more liquids as well. You will need around four to six hundred calories more per baby. It really is a lot! And you will also need to drink more liquids such as ten to twelve cups.
