Choosing a Contraceptive after Childbirth

Choosing a Contraceptive after Childbirth

Many people believe that if a woman is breastfeeding that she cannot get pregnant again. While it is true that breastfeeding generally postpones ovulation, some women that are breastfeeding still ovulate and therefore can conceive again. It is possible that you will not ovulate during the whole time that you are breastfeeding or that you will start ovulating just two weeks after the delivery. if you are not breastfeeding, you will ovulate again on average around ten weeks after the delivery, however there are some women that have started ovulating after four weeks. If you breastfeed for approximately one month or twenty-eight days, the ovulation will come back in the same time that women who are not breastfeeding do. Because of this factor, it is important to look and analyze all the different options of contraceptives that exist before having sex again. In the case of almost all women, there is a large range of options for birth control, but some women have medical conditions that may not allow them to use certain methods. You should talk to your doctor about this point in the first check up you get with him or her.
