Whether to breastfeed or bottle-feed is one of the first thing upon having a baby that a lot of parents have ask themselves. While it is true that a lot of women these days choose to breastfeed, making the decision is not easy. If you find this is something very difficult for you to decide due to your specific circumstances, you can rest assured and be comforted that both ways are sensible and legitimate.

Breastfeeding or Bottle Feeding?
No matter where you go or whom you talk to whether it is the obstetrician, the pediatrician, the nurses, your family, friends etc, will suggest you breastfeed your baby. This is one of the things that took off in the nineteenth century and a lot of medical findings have been added onto it. Bottles were something that were in fashion in the fifties because this was when the scientists invented techniques for pasteurizing and storing cow milk in formulas that were adequate for a baby’s nutrition. Since people and organizations around the world have been able to now see the great benefits breastfeeding has, it has regained popularity.

There are other things that come into the picture when making the decision of breastfeeding though. Some of those factors include, questions like convenience, corporal image, esthetics, etc. Each individual mother should be able to make this decision on her own. If her conclusion is that bottle-feeding is better for her and her baby, she should by no means feel guilty about this decision.

A lot of people have said that breastfeeding is a really good way of establishing a special bond with the baby, but bottle feeding can also be a very loving and warm way of interacting with your child and it gives the opportunity for other people to interact in this way with the baby as well, such as the father for example. Although it is true that breastfeeding does offer some undeniable benefits, most babies that are bottle-fed are perfectly healthy.

Whatever your decision is concerning this aspect, one thing you may want to do is make the decision before you have your baby as this will give you enough time to prepare for when the baby does start eating. There are some women that practice breastfeeding to see how it is going to go for them while there are others that do both meaning they breastfeed and bottle-feed. Others extract their milk and mix it with formula and then bottle-feed it to the baby etc.
