Foods that are Recommended for Children of 4 to 6 Months of Age

  • Fruit: apples, pears, bananas, kiwis, grapes, peaches and apricots.
  • Citric Fruit: oranges, lemons, mandarins, grapefruit.

Note: Make sure to be very careful with strawberries, melons and cherries because some kids have allergic reactions to them.

  • Vegetables: Carrots, onions, green peas.
  • Starch: Potatoes and sweet potatoes.
  • Meat: Chicken and veal.
  • Cereals: Rice flour, four made out of cereals, cornstarch and tapioca.

When a Child is Six Months Old

  • Fruit: All fruits can be given to the child.
  • Vegetables: Celery and parsnip, cabbage, beets, spinach, turnip, pumpkin etc.
  • Meat: Chicken and Veal.
  • Fish: White fish.
  • Eggs: ½ egg or an egg yolk.

When a Child is Nine to Twelve Months of Age
These foods can be given to a child but only in a very small quantity.

  • Dry vegetables: Lentils and garbanzos.
  • Tender vegetables: Peas.
  • Fish: Blue fish.
  • Meat: Sirloin and pig loin, lamb and rabbit.
