General Feeding Suggestions

Increase the consumption of carbohydrates of slow assimilation: Bread, Pasta, Rice, Beans, and Potatoes.

Increase the consumption of fruits and rich vegetables in vitamins, minerals and fiber.

Go slow with the consumption of foods of animal origin.

Decrease the amount of sugar given.

Some children don’t like certain foods due to their color. For example, children aren’t too fond of lightly fried fish with a lot of stock, whereas they tend to like fried fish, and it is important to keep in mind what they like to eat.

Foods such as whole wheat pasta and rice are a little hard for small children to digest, as well as beans due to the amount of fiber they contain, and it can cause abdominal pain and swelling of the intestines.

The portions of foods that should be given to a child need to be alternated during the week so that the child gets a balanced and varied diet.

The amounts of food given to a child should be increased little by little and previously discussed with the pediatrician.

It is convenient to children to eat: fresh foods, food with a small amount of animal fat, a very small amount of sugar, and food without salt until the child is one year of age.
