Other Feeding Methods and Corrective Diets

There is another factor why a child could acquire determined eating habits, such as in the case of people that live with a child and follow a certain non-conventional type of eating patterns, such as in the case of vegetarian diets for example. On occasions these children have problems when they eat in school since there are very radical people in this aspect and ask the children’s food be made following their diets. Some children do not understand why they do not eat the same thing their classmates do, and often times become fascinated with trying these other types of foods. In this sense, the parents or responsible caretakers should know what is more convenient for the child.

On the other hand there are children that have to follow special diets due to an illness or disease such as diabetes, or gluten intolerance, lactose intolerance etc. and it is very important the children follow this diet if it has been prescribed by a specialist since a diet specifically made for a child is the main factor in combating or correcting a disease.

The Personal Tastes of Adults
On occasions something interesting happens, which is when an adult who doesn’t like a specific type of food prepares a meal for a child and forgets to include a determined food in the meals, and because of this it is possible the child will not eat it either.

Spices, Sweets and Candy
Another aspect to keep in mind is to get a child used to foods that aren’t too salty or spicy, as these could damage the child’s digestive system. This generally happens with food that is pre made or pre cooked. Obviously it is also very important to be careful with the amount of sweets you give to a child as was previously mentioned. Children are usually very fond of candy, chocolate, cakes, ice cream, or simply sugar. These foods must be fed moderately. They should not be fed to a child every day for several reasons. When children are smaller, the biggest concern is the cavities these types of foods can cause. These types of foods can also cause obesity glandular problems, and even cause serious health problems such as high levels of cholesterol or diabetes in very small children.
