Bread is something kids really like and it is a great food to feed. When children turn one year they should start eating two to three pieces of fruit every day. Foods that are not recommended for children are:
Grated apples that have been well oxidized (dark) are great for combating diarrhea. Pears, oranges, and mandarins are fruits that help when a child is constipated. When a child eats a new type of food and it causes him or her to throw up, have diarrhea, gas, it is a strong signal that the child does not tolerate that specific food very well. Fruit fed to a child should be ripe so that the child is able to digest it better. It is convenient to peel fruit for smaller children. The first fruit juices given to babies should be diluted with a 50% of boiled water and cooled, or served with bottled water. It is not advisable to add sugar or honey to fruit purees. Vegetables used for salads should be left soaking for around 5 minutes in a couple drops of bleach and an abundant amount of water in order to eliminate microorganisms. Afterwards make sure to rinse well. Aromatic herbs can improve any dish. The first times a child is fed soups; no salt should be added to the food. White meat, such as chicken has the same nutritional value (in protein) as red meat does, such as veal etc. Make sure to cook the meat well in order to eliminate any toxins it might have. Loin and pig sirloin are meats with very little fat and they can be introduced in a child’s diet, whenever the pediatrician considers it opportune. If you are going to blend vegetables, you should remove the fiber from them as they are then easier to digest. If they are mashed, the fiber will not be eliminated and it is possible the child will have digestion problems. Whenever feeding a child blended or mashed foods or juices, make sure to feed it to them right away so that they do not lose their nutritional value. |
