Respecting the Feeding Preferences of a Child

Each child is different and has different tastes. It is important we respect the fact that a child might not necessarily fancy a certain type of food, but the child should not be allowed to leave out a whole food group from his or her diet. For example, if a child does not like milk, you can give him or her yogurt, custard or cheese instead; if a child does not like lettuce, you can give him or her spinach etc. The most important thing is to substitute one food for another that has the same nutritional characteristics.

Children become used, beginning from a young age, to incline towards sweets. Kids actually like sugar excessively. Sometimes the ones to blame are the adults, because they often times add a little bit of sugar to the first juice or mashed fruit that is given to a child so they enjoy it more. This is exactly how a child starts to like sugar and ends up becoming a fan of sweet foods. And this is exactly what we should avoid.
