Surprising Baby Cry

Generally a mother that is nervous or easily excited has a child that cries a lot. This is how a vicious cycle is caused because: the more the baby cries, the more nervous the mother gets, and the more nervous the mother gets, the more the baby cries. Don’t allow yourself to get caught in this vicious cycle.

Fortunately this agitation period almost always disappears after the second or third month. This is why it is so important that you dedicate a lot of time to getting to know your baby so you are able to interpret his or her signs correctly.

If all of a sudden your baby starts to cry without any apparent reason, take few minutes to evaluate what happened in the minute the baby started crying. Look around the room, verify the temperature, listen to the surrounding noises, and analyze yourself to see if you are altered, nervous, impatient or tired. Observe if your baby moves his or her legs or if he or she curls them. Look to see if the baby is making faces and arches the back etc. Once you are aware of what has happened you will be able to act consequently.

When the baby cries all of a sudden and you have verified that the baby is not hungry or wet, or in pain, try to put the following tips into practice.

The first things you will have to do are relax and calm yourself down. Breathe deeply counting until ten or one hundred (depending on how anxious you are) before even thinking about carrying the baby.

Copy the aquatic sounds the baby used to listen to while in your womb such as sh, sh, sh (as if the amniotic liquid was moving) and give the baby some rhythmic pats on the back while imitating the sound of your heart.

When rocking the baby, rock him or her from front to back, never from up to down nor to the sides. The movement must recreate the moments when you walked and the baby was rocking in your tummy.

Get rid of any feelings of guilt for not being so patient or for not wanting the baby to bother you. Just as what happens to adults, love grows as you get to know the person.

The baby’s central nervous system is not completely developed, which is why they need for their parents to be patient and perceive their mood swings.
