Tests for Detecting Down Syndrome In Multiple Pregnancies
For many years, the most common way of detecting Down syndrome was to measure the different indicators of blood in the mother at sixteen weeks of pregnancy. The precision of this test in the case of twins is pretty accurate but when there are three babies or more involved, these cannot be used. The most recent way of checking for Down syndrome now seems to be something especially promising for mothers with multiple pregnancies; the doctor can analyze an area of the neck of each fetus and determine the individual risk of having the syndrome.
