That which is Not Used is Lost
The fact that what is not used is lost is so well known that it is almost axiomatic in fields as diverse as body building and the study of algebra. Because of this, it is not necessary for us to insist on it here. The knowledge that the brain develops with use during the first six years of a child’s life and that we can make the brain of a child develop almost at will is not only valuable information, it’s what we call priceless. All of the hind part of the brain and the spinal cord is made up by five sensorial ways of entrance. We can make this develop, literally by giving to the child visual information, hearing information, tactile information, olfactory information, and taste information with more frequency, intensity and over longer periods of time. If the child uses them all, they will develop and become more mature as well as more competent. If the child does not use them during these six years, they simply will not develop. The front part of the brain and the spinal cord is made up of the motor ways of exit by which we react in face of that sensorial information when it goes in. in human beings, these paths produce the motor skills, the ability to talk as well as manual ability. These paths also become developed with use. These two groups of paths are the brain. They grow physically and acquire skil
with use. It is not true that we only use one tenth part of our brains. We do not live long enough to even use one thousandth part of the capacity of our brain. It is possible that Leonardo da Vinci got to use almost one thousandth part of the capacity of his brain and this is obviously why he was who he turned out to be. The human brain has the capacity of 125,500,000,000, 000 units of information. Even though it is true that there were a lot of people that work in institutions that were aware that the capacity of the human brain has an almost incredible amplitude, we were only able to realize the plain measure of this capacity when scientists in the advanced technological laboratories published a chart that indicated the comparison of the capacities of memory.
According to this chart it was said that the human brain had ten times the capacity of the national archives of the United States. The brain, that is, which weighs 1,900 grams. Isn’t it incredible what can be found out about the brain? It certainly makes one respect it a great deal more. If your baby only had one tenth part of his brain capacity, he would see himself reduced down to the capacity of the national archives. Are you still worried about exhausting it? Or are you worried about not taking advantage of it?
