The Ages of a Baby

I’m having a Baby!
Becoming parents is a unique and wonderful experience that begins in the moment of the conception. Learning to be parents will from now on be a huge responsibility that will fill you with satisfactions, but with worry as well. Correctly stimulating the baby in each stage of development with lots of love, patience and dedication will make raising the child an exciting family adventure.

Prenatal Stimulation: The idea of intrauterine stimulation is nothin

g new. Over forty years ago scientists began an investigation on lab animals and they now know a lot of the mechanisms that intervene with the growth of a baby. This type of stimulation has been applied since several years ago, but not massively yet.

Numerous studies have demonstrated that babies that are stimulated during gestation are born more relaxed, with their eyes and eyes open, cry less, sleep and eat better, are capable of concentrating better for longer amounts of time and are quick learners. When theses babies grow they have better memory, better coordination, are more curious, capture and process information quickly, their mathematical abilities increase, learning new languages is easier, their nervous system is stimulated and they show greater intelligence in the schooling stage. Intrauterine learning is proven because theses babies also calm down with music and the voice of their mothers.

What Is Prenatal Stimulation? It is a technique that is used to stimulate the baby when in the mother’s womb. Sounds, music, the mother’s voice, vibrations, light and movement are used to do this. The baby learns how to recognize them by responding to these stimuli, which favors their sensorial, physical and mental development.

The hearing of a baby in gestation appears at twenty-two days and matures structurally to the fifth month of birth. To stimulate the baby correctly at that moment will mean a great advantage in the future, since it allows the baby to act on the formation of his or her neuronal structure right at the time that it is moldable. It was believed in the past that babies in gestation were inexpressive beings without a developed sense of taste, sight and hearing. Now, thanks the advances that have been made in science (ultrasounds, optic fiber etc), it can be seen how a baby behaves inside the mother’s womb. For example, a baby is able to react by blinking in front of a bright light and change expressions after having sucked on something sweet or bitter.

In the womb, a baby can hear the mother’s heart beats, her voice and the sounds within the environment. This is why prenatal stimulation focuses on hearing. Listening to soft crib songs is good for the baby, as well as classical music, despite the complexity of it’s structure and that the sound reaches the baby’s ears with a series of ups and downs due to the interference caused by the amniotic liquid. If you have never heard classical music, try it with some other music that relaxes you.

In the third month of gestation, a baby starts to perceive space orientation and tactile stimulus, which is why it is good to talk to him or her and rub your stomach.
