The Gibberish of Yin, Yang and Energy

The Gibberish of Yin, Yang & Energy

The Taoists considered their energy as a total unit. They say that in one day a young healthy person produces 100% of the energy that he or she needs due to the food he or she eats, rest, exercises, etc, and consumes 60 to 70% in their activities like work, digestion and other.

As we age we produce less energy, but we need the same amount, so the deficit is extracted from the vital organs and glands.

They also sustain that we all are born with energy in abundance to which they call Jing - main energy or essential - that moves all the functions of the body. Its conservation provides us a long life and it heals and it constitutes the base the Taoists practices. With this the vital organs interact and become Chi or Ki or vital energy.

Sexual energy is nothing more than the same energy produced in the sexual organs, ovaries and testicles.

The Jing energy is accumulated in the tissues but mainly in the kidneys, sperm and ovules. Because of this for the Taoists the main loss of energy of a man is ejaculation and in women, menstruation. In order to understand it you would have to understand the meaning of the word Chi.

Chi is a Chinese word, which means “the vapor that comes out of a pot when rice is cooking”. In other words, the force that makes possible and a visible action. On a physical level, it is the air we breath and which keeps us alive.

They say we mix that air with other nutrients and refine it and transform it into another type of energy. It turns into our blood, bones, and flesh etc. without losing the internal palpitation rhythm that flows through each cell, our organs refine at the same time this energy and send Chi power to our brain for the functions of thought, emotions, dreams, etc. Chi is in other words like a glue between our body, mind and spirit; it is the link between our internal and external worlds.

In the search of the art of the love, the Taoists went beyond the types of foods and herbs and even further beyond the erotic techniques. The quintessence of its bedroom art was to generate and maximize the sexual vitality by means of the conscious handling of the Chi of the human body. They did this to improve the sexual excitement and to intensify the ecstasy of both men and women.

In modern terms, the Chi of the Taoists is a form of interaction between the body-mind where the conscious mind directs the body. They also believed that the primitive and powerful force of life could be controlled and manipulated, not only to increase the sexual life but also to improve martial techniques, health and to prolong life. So the key for the ancient Chinese resided in the conservation and condensation of the Chi and its later transformation into a superior quality of energy.

These days we have many methods to increase our vital force or Chi: massages, shiatsu, acupuncture, martial arts, Qi Gong, herbs, meditation, yoga, to mention just some. However the Taoist Chinese think that the most abundant energy - and the one that can most easily turn into Chi and in other superior energies - it is the sexual one.
