The Role of a Parent
Find the time to play with your children every day and get involved in his activities. You should not feel like you are too old to play with your child. Remember that there is no substitute for parents, not even the child’s teachers, friends or other people. Parents spend too much time these days placing their children in other activities and classes when they could be taking care of some of those things themselves. The results of what spending time with your child can bring are outstanding. Eve
n simple things such as sitting down at dinner time with the whole family and talking together is something that unfortunately, is not very common these days. Don’t waste time working on your material goods and give up time to spend with your children and remember that no matter how many things you give your child it does not compensate or make up for your absence.
Another important point parents should keep in mind is that it is not possible for children to learn everything. It is important parents do not force a child to do something he is not interested in doing. There are obviously some things that a child cannot do at home such as in the case of children that like sports such as soccer, swimming etc. sending your children to do these things is actually healthy but there are people that over do it in order to keep the kids out of the house and that send them to tons of classes when they could be spending quality time with the family. Remember that too much of this can overburden a child and can cause stress. When children have to deal with such busy schedules it has a tendency of destroying their natural interest for those activities and in some cases it can even cause a child to become frustrated and aggressive especially in cases where the goals that have been set for them are not met. Certain children are excellent at the goals that have been set for them when they are really little but it is not uncommon for their performance to become reduced when they get to the higher grades in school which are also more demanding for the child and in part this could be due to the amount of things that are required from the child. In cases where a child is not very intelligent, then it is common for the performance at school to drop as well and if the parents keep on demanding the child the same standards the child could very well become stressed which could lead to lack of confidence.
