What Kind of Bottles and Nipples to Get for a Newborn Baby

Finding the right bottle and bottle nipple can be somewhat of a challenge due to the wide range that exists in the market. However, there are some babies that seem to have a preference as far as the type of bottle nipple they like. Most likely you will have to try with a few different ones before finding the one that suits you and your baby best. When the baby is still very small, getting the small four-ounce bottles are better. Later on, when the baby drinks larger amounts of milk, you can change to the bigger eight ounce bottles. Keep the following in mind:

• There are bottles that are actually plastic recipients in which little see through plastic bags full of milk are put inside of them. The good thing about these types of bottles is that the empty bag can be thrown away, and you do not have to worry about sterilizing the plastic recipient. The bags come sterilized and they are designed to collapse and this way less air goes into the baby’s stomach.

• There are also baby bottles that have an angle that help to reduce the amount of air that goes inside the baby’s tummy and helps to reduce gas.

• There are a large variety of bottle nipples. The newborn nipples have a smaller hole and the holes go increasing and getting bigger as the baby grows. The nipples designed from the orthodontic point of view are more natural. Some nipples are made out of latex while there are others that are made out of silicon. Some babies seem to show a preference towards one type while some babies don’t seem to notice the difference.
