When the Sperm Goes Into the Egg
A lot of women do not know how to optimize the process in order to have the best chance of getting pregnant as soon as they have made the decision to do so. For this to happen, it is necessary to think about ovulation, which is when the ovaries free the ovule, which takes place once with every cycle that is generally once a month.
When it comes out of the ovaries, the ovule spends a few days sliding in the fallopian tubes until it reaches the uterus. Most commonly the pregnancy will occur when the ovule has fecundated within the next 24 hours after it has left the ovaries, when it goes through the fallopian tubes and then the embryo clings onto the walls of the uterus. In order to get pregnant, you work consists in achieving that the sperm comes into contact with the ovule as quickly as possible (if possible between 1
2 and 24 hours) after ovulation.
The best moment to have sexual relations is between 12 to 24 hours before ovulation. This way the sperm will be in place once the ovule has been liberated. It is believed that sperm lives inside of a woman between 24 to 48 hours, although it is known that ovules have fertilized in seven days. Couples should not expect though to achieve getting pregnant in the first try. On average the probability fluctuates between 15 and 25 percent each month. Approximately all couples that are trying achieve so in four months; at six months, three fourths achieve it; in a year, 85 percent; and after two years, 93 percent. If you have been trying to get pregnant for a year or more without any success, it is worth it to take a fertility test.
