When You Do Not Have Enough Milk

If you think that in an extraction you are not getting enough milk out, store what you have gotten. On occasions, the doctors will suggest, if you do not have enough milk, to combine artificial milk specifically made for premature babies with your breast milk. Accept this as a transitory measure if you have decided to breast-feed and there is no important impediment for you to do so. Surely you will ask yourself how this is possible. Simply because a lot of mothers of premature babies have proven that by increased the number of extractions it is possible to get more milk. Some mothers only express their milk every four hours or more during the day, and posterior to that, discovered that due to that they didn’t get enough out. By modifying this, by expressing it for example every two or three hours, and at least once at night, they saw that they were able to get more milk out. How? The answer is easy. During suction, since the receptors are stimulated in the nipple and areola, through the nerve endings the impulses are transmitted to the hypothalamic area in the brain, and from there, to the previous hypothesis where all the necessary mechanisms to increase the amount of milk are put to work depending on the offer and demand.
